The single pole switch/thermostat is on all the time. It has no positive off. For an RV type of application I cant see where this could be used or justified.
The double pole switch/thermostat has a positive "off" and 1-10 manual settings. - billygExplorerHi I read all the info given. Can you explain the difference in the single and double pole stats.? Bill

Thanks for posting the make and models. I had a PM also and unfortunately I could not remember the name of the heaters, and cant get to my TC due to storage. Just to clarify on the basic LCM Dimplex model. I bought the Almond, 1000 watt unit that I pictured earlier in this thread. It is very easy to add the manual double pole knob/thermostat. I added the double pole knob because a wanted the true on/off feature. There is an easy "knock out" space on the heater and easy to wire it in. About a 15 minute job before installing the heater. The knob goes from 1-10 and after a few times using it its easy to set it and forget it. - Ski_Pro_3ExplorerI've had several PM's about my heater I posted photos of, so I thought I would answer them here for all;
The heater brand is Dimplex. There are several models but the primary differences are;
1. The overall length is determined by the wattage. A 750watt unit is shorter than a 1000watt unit for example.
2. Comes in several models depending on if you want to use a thermostat already in your RV to operate, or have a thermostat built in.
Mine in the photo is a 750 watt unit and 30" long. It has the built in thermostat. The thermostat has a 'set back' button I press when heading out for the day. Keeps the RV warm, but not as warm as when I'm occupying it. Handy if you want to keep stuff from freezing while parked in your driveway.
Starting with the simple, no thermostat version, the model is The Dimplex LCM Convector. You can find them here and they come in several wattages and in either white or almond;

Very inexpensive this way, the 30" 750W unit is only $37.95 and the 1000W 40" unit is only $8 more.

The model I have is the Dimplex PCM Convector. It has the built in thermostat that the LCM doesn't have. Also, it has a Proportional Circuit built in. What that does is, the heater output wattage changes as the temperature setting and the room temperature gets closer or further away from each other. When the temperature in the room is several degrees colder than the setting on the heater, full wattage is drawn. As the two get closer, say 2 degrees within the room from the setting on the heater, the wattage output throttles back. That way there isn't a big in-rush of current switching this unit on/off as the room temp changes. This also means the thermostat has to be this built in model, not a thermostat you have already in your camper and most likely is just a thermo switch that turns on/off over a few degree temp swing.

And lastly, there is the LPC series. This is just one heater right now, 1250 watts. But for some reason, comes in 35" long compared to the 50" long LCM version.
They each sell for right at $100 with the longer one higher at $105.

Like I said, I have the PCM model in 750w 30". Mainly because that is the max length that would fit in the area I had to mount it. - gitpicker2009ExplorerHey Merrykalia, I have one of those in a room at my house, and it's pretty decent for a 14x14 room. should work great in an RV, but I don't think I have any wall space big enough to mount it. Nice warm heat, but you can literally put your hand on it, no danger.
- MerrykaliaExplorerI just saw this and in practical terms, it seems like a good solution, if you have the wall space for it.
wall heater - dmaxpullerExplorerJust got back from a trip to the Sierras. It was cold, single digits at night and no warmer than 20 during the day.
Not sure how big a camper you have, but we have the AF 996 Dual slide out truck camper, and this little heater kept it very toasty. At night had to get up and turn it down. It doesnt get hot to the touch and not loud at all.
