Eternabond Removal

I have heard of the fantastic adhesion properties of Eternabond and can certainly see it's uses on various parts of the camper. But I am a bit afraid to use it on such areas as vent openings....areas that might need to be replaced or upgraded in the future.

How easily can you get the stuff off if you want to see the screws again? Dicor/silicone/Silkaflex can all be removed with some work, but I have no experience trying to remove Eternabond.

I would love to be able to use it in those areas...anyone with Eternabond removal experience?

If you need to remove the vent just cut around the perimeter replace the vent and apply another layer over the splice.

I put it around all my roof vents. I figure I will worry about the removal when I have to. In most areas it will work fine to leave it on and just go over with new product. For now I have peace of mind knowing that I have a great product keeping out the water.

I used it on the wood stove chimney on the sticks 'n' bricks. Later had to make some other repairs that called for removing some of the Eternabond. Did not try a heat gun, just a knife and pliers. It came off, albeit with some effort.

It was still flexible, and where it had been adhered to the aluminum, wood, nails, screws, and stuff, it was still stuck down strongly. It's good stuff, I wouldn't hesitate to use it. I would, however, advise you to be sure to clean off the surface like they tell you to do. If you try to put it down over dirt, loose rust, wax, or plain old dust, it will stick mightily to all those loose things and come right off the roof. Mighty expensive method of cleaning the surface, if you ask me. But a great sealant on a clean and dry surface.

An RV dealer removed an Eternabond patch from my roof once, said they did it with a heat gun.
