I am sure this is not news to a lot of you but if you are towing with an f-150 check to see that you have the relay and fuse installed for charging your camper battery. I came across this info in another forum and was less than impressed when I went and checked only to find I have not been charging my battery while going down the road.Ford chooses to leave out the relay and fuse for battery charging for some reason. I even have the factory installed brake controller that works just fine. The relay goes into slot #9 and the fuse #21. Just thought I would throw this out there in case I'm not the only one that had no idea.Ryan

RoyBThank You! I thought I had checked. I had found a camera cap for tailgate camera but that was it. After reading your post I went and took everything out of glove box and there it was under everything. Still wish I had known sooner. Live and learn I guess.

Ford is not the only one to do that. When I bought my Chevy, I found that my Brake Controller worked but no brake lights and no battery charging. As you stated, it was missing a fuse but had the relay installed but it had to be turned around and re-inserted to work. Go Figure.

My special order 2001 came the same way. Parts in a bag in the glove box.Inserting the relay and fuse has been a long time honored tradition to drive a Ford.

We had the exact same thing come up just a few weeks ago....we've had the F-150 since '03!!! DH was going nuts trying to figure out what the problem was and envisioned all sorts of dreadful things. Can't remember who it was that mentioned it - maybe the Auto Zone guy - but he swapped one from another location and Bingo!....just a few dollars and we were much happier. Now, why did Ford install the factory tow package and neglect this little matter???

More than likely it is covered in the owners manual and it appears that Ford supplies the parts

Even with the integrated brake controller on my GMC I had to install a fuse and connect the charge wire to the post on the fuse box under the hood. Gm did not supply either the fuse or the nut for the post.

Thanks for posting this. I just bought an F-150 this year and would never had known about this. I checked and sure enough the fuse and relay were in a bag in the glove box.
