- BenKExplorerUnless going faster than the speed of sound...towing with that setup will have the exhaust sound bounce back to the TV
Guess not as bad on a pickup, but a SUV or CUV...it will potentially boom inside the passenger cabin
Of course, depends on the muffler configuration
Car stuff... - TurnThePageExplorerThe truck in the photo is powered by a 3.5L Ecoboost. Quiet. Regardless, I think they have this stuff figured out.
I can say that my Ram 1500, with a very similar configuration, has zero issue with exhaust noise bouncing off my trailer, even though it has a nice growl when I'm in the gas. None of the annoying drone that my '97 with rear dual exhaust had. - mich800Explorer

That is the 3.5 HO, i.e. raptor tune. I don't think the regular version has dual rear exit. - TurnThePageExplorerProbably why I haven't noticed one yet. I didn't even realize the Raptors had gone to dual exhaust.
- ShinerBockExplorerYeah, that is only on the Limited trim with the high output 450hp/510lb-ft 3.5L Ecoboost.
- twodownzeroExplorerI never understood rear exit exhaust on a pickup truck myself. Side exit only for me.
- SidecarFlipExplorer IIILooks like a Dodge deal to me....

I would think side exhaust would have less chance of carbon monoxide getting in and soot getting on the trailer. I don't know if it's even a issue.

- 1320FastbackExplorerI like how wide apart they appear compared to the ram 1500. Might be other design influences but to me it looks better.
I can see rear exhaust being not so good when hooking up or unhooking but should be nice and quiet. I made the mistake of putting a Shelby style exhaust on my Fastback which puts one exhaust tip just behind each door. Can you say can't hear anything in a drive-thru! Next time it's both out the passenger side Nascar style. The old Dodge has a single out the passenger side but it's just too loud period to hear in a drive-thru.
If I had my choice in a new truck exhaust, gas or diesel, I'd have it come through the lower rear quarter panel just behind the rear tire on the passenger side. This would keep the exhaust up high, out of sight and safe from hitting things.
