F450 vs Ram 3500 DRW tow vehicle

Both are fine vehicles IMO.

If you are leaning towards the Ram why not the Ram 4500?

Did you test drive them? They are both exceptionally capable vehicles. One of the guys in our camping group has a 2020 F350 dually and the ride is incredible. Even aired up to 80psi in the rear it was smooth and compliant feeling. I was quite impressed with the ride.

Ram does not offer a pickup bed with the 4500 and power level is considerably lower since it is not a complete chassis vehicle. Ford put a pickup bed on their F-450 to directly compete with the Ram 3500 high output.

Payloads being equal (?) I'd go for the F450 for the turning radius if full timing. Running errands and site seeing it would be easier to drive in tighter places.

CVRA and ACTM stickers will probably be mandatory on the F450, as will stopping at scales in California.

Thank you for your quick responses. I haven't driven the F-450 yet, I plan to go sometime this week. The payloads and two capacity are pretty close to each other, so good point on the turning radius on the Ford. That is something to definitely consider.
Also from what I'v gathered about the Ram 4500, is this only comes in a cab and chassis and I believe the GVWR is over 14K# which would classify as a commercial truck where the Ford F450 has a GVWR or 14K#. It might just come down to which dealer is able to give me a better deal at this time. I priced them both out and MSRP is about same as well.

So the issues are a few, the F450 would have a smaller payload, as the truck is heaver, with the same GVWR.
F450 has a tighter turning radius than the Ram. I know I need to plan a head in tight places.

Turning radius is very important to me. For instance, I greatly dislike my new Silverado vs. the last three Tahoes.
