Filter for auxiliary tank

I had a RDS auxiliary fuel tank in my truck for 9 years. Gravity feed kit and a NAPA 3123 filter. I also used diesel kleen and later on used Opti Lube. I changed truck filters at regular maintenance intervals. I cut open and checked filters and they were always clean and look good.

I know it's hard to argue with success. But I'm getting a new truck going to use auxiliary tank in it. My question is is here a better filter I can or should use?
  • I use a Baldwin BF 7587 as a primary filter ahead of the factory filter. When I cut it open it is always discolored. I changed it yesterday after about 7.000 miles most of it towing and most of the filter media was discolored. I'm sure I could run longer but it is cheap insurance to change it often.
  • I use a Transfer Flow 98 gallon diesel tank, which pumps into the truck's factory tank. Concerned about water condensation, I installed a NAPA 3694 filter, which is supposed to act as a water separator. I also try to keep the aux. tank topped up.
