I recently (this week) toured the Adventurer Eagle Cap factory in Yakama and watched as campers were being built on the line...Including the former Eagle Cap (formerly in La Grande), Bigfoot (former, pre-restart), Okanagan (RIP), and Citation (RIP), this was our fifth manufacturer plant tour...At this time they were building a batch-run of Adventurer’s of a particular model number (of which I can’t recall).
Noting that all campers have their pluses and minuses, one thing from my perspective that stands out on the ‘new generation’ Adventurer and Eagle Cap is their use on the exterior of high gloss Lamilux 4000 panels in lieu of whats normally a near paper-thin layer of Filon vacuum laminated atop 1/8” luan... I’d roughly estimate that this Lamilux measured about the same thickness as is 16 gauge sheet metal, and is the same high gloss (e.g. wet look) siding material thats used on the high-end class A’s...Having done some aluminum welding myself, the butt welds on the superstructure (via industrial spool guns) were of a robust thickness and applied with skill, and the aluminum box tubing was tightly fitted with square wood dowels inside... Those were my two big take aways...
BTW, We did get to check out their 50th anniversary limited edition (of 50) model (non-slide) Adventurer, and found the interior appointments to be quite over-the-top, with a uber European kind of ambience and flair...Our guide Jim said that eventually a decision will be made as to which of these features might end up migrating over to their other models - this camper was recently reported on, on Truck Camper Magazine...Link,
