So I have a triple 32' toy hauler. My back axle tires on the outside 1" to 1 1/2" wears super fast. I installed new, although a cheap foreign tire, onto back before we left on a long road trip. Returning 5 weeks and 4,200 miles later the tires are bald on the outside edge. The inside seems to be fine but the outside is smooth. My trailer rides level and is not loaded extremely heavy to the back. I have 1,900 lbs of tougne weight. I had three ATVs in the trailer in a row. Just curious if this seems normal. I have been told triple axles wear the back axle tire quickly but this seem a little over board. Additionally the center axle tire keeps blowing out. I lost a TowMaster on the drivers side in Utah and a Les Schwab Gadiator this weekend on a local trip for the eclipse. The Tow Master tread blew out but the Gladiator blew out the side wall. All tires are at 80 PSI and I check them regularly. This also seems odd to me as the drivers side front is my oldest tire. All tires are E rated and as they rims are 15" I can't go any higher. I drive between 58 and 62 MPH depending on the temperature outside. I thought I was doing well but the tire wear and blow outs are getting old.What say you?

As I see it, you've got 2 interrelated problems.1) Check for bent/misaligned axle for the outside edge tire wear.2) Spring for a new set of 16" wheels now, and put on LT tires, this will stop blow outs immediately.

Start rotating them real often.

Thanks for the tips also. I am done traveling until I can get this worked out. It's a pain and takes the fun out of the trip.

Well I have an appointment on the 13th to get the axles aligned. Looking forward to seeing the results of work! Thanks to all for your ideas and confirming that this is not normal.

I'd be totally surprised if you can’t see something wrong looking from the rear - loaded-unloaded.
A hub could be bend, bearing out, bent axles. Any good frame alignment shop can help if you can’t see it from the rear/front

I must have missed if it was a pull or 5th wheel?
Type of trailer, brand, weight, pictures, did I miss that too? I'm new here.:-)
I just replaced my first set of 6 on a 40', 14,500lb, 5th wheel with great tread wear left over. They were dang near 9 years old with 40-50k miles on them.
I'd be totally surprised if you can’t see something wrong looking from the rear - loaded-unloaded.

Assuming the trailer runs "level" with the truck, not nose high. Some big rig trailer repair shops can check axle alignment. ASH, auto safety house I think does too.
You may have clipped a curb and tweaked the axle.

Invest in a infa red temp gun. Harbor freight as cheap as 10-20 bucks.Temps will tell you a lot about whats going on.

Whenever I stop, I check all the tires to see if any are running abnormally high compared to others, axle temps etc on tow vehicle etc. After a while you see an average temp on tires etc. ( I have a on board TPMS for the RV too)

Check tire/rim temps etc. my 3 axles, front(towards truck) is cooler,more air flow, center 5-10 degrees more, rear about the same as center.

In Az, my tires usually run, depending on the season, 110-140 degrees.I got tired of tire issues and went to 16" with Bridgestone duravis R250's and have not had a tire issue since 2012 when I switched over..I'll probably jinx myself by saying that, but going to 16" was the best thing I ever did to the RV.

It does sound like you have a axle issue.

That is good to know. i will take it in and show them the results first and have them check the axles. Recently had to replace my truck and it caused the trailer to ride nose high with the previous hitch but I got it replaced and now it is fine on height. Thank you all for the direction on what to pursue!

I had another hauler who ran pony for me on occasion with a 32' GN stock trailer with 5.2k axles and the same problems. The trailer was nose high which over loaded the aft two axles causing ruined tires on the aft axle at a higher rate than the front axle.
Any big rig trailer repair shop can fix you up with proper weight balance (all axles) and align them......and replace or bend the axles back to proper camber/toe specs.

My point was take weight off the rear since the rear axle is wearing tires so much.

Hi, it could very well be the cheap tires. I had the same problem with the tires wearing funny and thought my axles were out of alignment. switched to BFG lt tires. since then and several thousand miles all tires are wearing evenly.

Something seems very off assuming the tires aren't very old or you are over the tire capacity of the tires. Maybe a trip to the scale would give you an idea of the balance left to right. It also seems like you might not be quite as level as you think and consider adding more weight forward.
