Finally Upgraded to a Real Tow Vehicle

Last year I bought my Bigfoot TT from a friends dad. Sunday I bought the truck they used to tow it with.....both same original owners.

2000 Ford (I have been a Chevy guy all my life) F350 super duty 7.3 diesel dually with the Banks Stinger + system and air bags. Truck has 150K on it and he used to be a trucker so it was maintained to the hilt.

I cant believe how fast this thing is!!! Holy crap.....and I drive a modded vette.

Previous very modded but really feeling the trailer 99 Tahoe.


The reunited but not hooked up in the pic Ford...


In 2 weeks I go camping up on the rim, same place as last month and will see what the difference is up the big hill.

    Don't you love it when a plan goes together.
    Thats terrific that your rig looks great and tows as well as it looks.

    Well that was fun.....I never even had a thought of sway. Trans temp never ever got over 165 on the big hills. Previous Tahoe with mods was 45 mph WOT the whole hill and 210 trans temp. F350 was 3/4 throttle at 65 mph.

    Hand calc fuel mileage was 10.4 mpg for the F350 (computer said 11.5) and 8.4 mpg for the Tahoe.

    Whole platform was 5x more stable and the brakes were at least 3x better. Now Im a happy camper and I actually WANT to tow somewhere, lol.

    Well got them hooked back up together like they belong.

    Gonna take them out to the high country this weekend.

    Just added a 6.0l trans cooler the other day.....holy smokes that thing is huge!!!

    Been reading along on this thread, and should have commented sooner.

    But wow, that is just a jewel of a truck. Kind of looks like the one always advertised only driven to church on Sunday's by some little old lady! :B

    Yeah that trans stock can be a slush box. I had one behind a V10 and when towing its shifting was slow and sometimes unsure fortunately there are many remedies for that!

    Its had Delvac 15-40 since it was new and now 151K........ex trucker owned. Just got a 31 row trans cooler in the mail today and will probably get a BTS valve body since the WOT shifts are terribly slow, not firm......but then with 290 rwhp and about 640 ft lbs of rwtq I can see why the stock trans would need some light modification.

    I don't compliment others trucks that often don't want to offend my truck and have it end up in the shop but I must say that is a REALLY nice looking Ford! I was at a maintenance shop that maintains/repairs fleet 7.3L's and said if they didn't get at least 400K out of them that something was wrong.

    You're going to love the torque. I have several friends with 7.3, mostly 2000s, auto and stick - very good trucks. The autos are weak when power is added. I wonder if the previous owner did anything to it. You also have to keep the glow plugs and controller working good or they won't start in the cold. Craig
