Point is Chrysler Detroit/Corporate seams to be on the loosing end of the Fiat Corporate takeover when it comes to growing their US engineering department. It's your powertrain engineering group or lack of with Chrysler US that will have a negative impact in the long term IMO.
Careful with the envy topic as I'm sure Fiat is kicking the tire about putting one of their own engines into the RAM and kicking cummins to the curb. Because I'm sure Fiat thinks they have a better engine. :W
I'll clear the crystal ball. I see Sergio canning Chrysler and Dodge and it being Ram, Fiat, Jeep and maybe Alfa. There is pretty much 0 equity in Chrysler and Dodge brands. The only thing really keeping them in the black is Jeep and Ram. Last quarter sales of cars were down for them in just about every segment. I believe there was little to no growth for them YOY in cars but could be wrong.
I could see them dropping Cummins too sometime. They have great Diesels from Europe and it would make sense to build them in house vs pay someone else.
It will be interesting to watch but I think this will not be much different than every other time Chrysler tries to get hitched to someone else. Good in the beginning and then after a while it will peter out.
