First trip of the season in the books!

Yay! :). First weekend camp outing (finally!)

Spent the weekend at Alum Creek Sate Park Campground just north of Columbus OH. We picked this place because it was very close to our dealership, and I was taking the camper there to be de-winterized anyway. So. We thought it would be a good place for a first outing.

I liked this campground because almost all of the sites have a vegetation strip between you and the other sites. Even this early, with not a lot of leafs out yet, the sites feel nice and private. It helped a lot that the place was probably still 2/3 empty.

What I did not realize was just how close the train tracks are to this park. They are far enough away that the sound was not horrible, but it was noticeable. This may be less as the tress leaf out more.

Thanks fellow campers for reminding me to lower my antenna... And, for not laughing too hard at me when I curbed it at the dump station... Thanks Mother Nature for only pouring rain while I was un/hitching and setting up all by myself! Thanks RV service guy for turning off the breaker for my hot water... (Guess when I discovered this!) LOL. Gotta have a sense of humor. All in all it was a great first outing, the kids had a blast, and I'm bushed!
  • Great pics, Hoping to get mine out for a long weekend next month!

Absolutely! That is one seriously beautiful looking place to camp! I'm not likely to make it out that way for many, many years, but those pics are inspiring!

  • Disney should be fun, were went down to the Everglades. Our kids are grown so we sent post cards.

I know what you mean about the glaciers; we bought our TT in December and were desperate to test it before we headed South. We used the snow blower to clear a path to the driveway and dry camped at the park to check things out. Four day later we left for FL. It took another two days before the nights were warm enough to add water. One weekend on snowshoes the next on the beaches.

Camping with the kids and grandkids are precious moments in time. They grow fast and get harder to corral. Fortunately they remember these adventures even when you think they might not.

Sounds like you have fun summer planned; enjoy the ride.

Our first outing was in February at the local State Park also because we wanted to check things out before we headed south. As you noted a lot of little things can show up.

    Enjoy the summer.

It was a great time - warts and all! I wish we could have got out earlier, but the glaciers just receded like three weeks ago LOL...

Our next week end outing is in two weeks, and then a few weeks later (as soon as the kids are done with School) we'll be off on a 15 day 2,000 mile extravaganza to Fort Wilderness at Disney and then to Gatlinburg for a couple of days to break up the return trip.
