Well it looks like I have found a couple more flakey dealers. The first one I call about a unit on their web site sold it 4 days ago?
The second one also sold and not removed from their web site.
Is this a typical game to get you to call and then UP SELL you to a unit coming in for more money??
OR is this just bad business.
Being in business myself, I wonder how bad the industry really is.
I mean is this a wAlmART SELF SERV Industry. OR WHAT??
I do not sell RV's and could kick all of their buts in customer service and updates.
I'm loosing faith 😞

...and they probably have as many or more units that they haven't gotten onto the web site yet that might meet your exact requirements.

the "Flaky" dealer would have you
come on down" without telling you it sold they are either short staffed or selling units so fast they can't keep up with the website....

Many organizations with websites pay for others to service them. Many times it is cheaper to just have it done on a scheduled basis. Having a website service on call to make every little change on a real time basis would be the most expensive way to do it.

Understandable and certainly possible.

Maybe it makes more sense with shovels. I approached a local hardware manager with the comment, "Your competition is selling shovels for three dollars less than you are". He suggested I buy one from the competition. I said that I would have but they were out. The manager said the he would list his for three dollars less when he ran out.

A dealer can show any lowball prices on "Sold" units, since they do not have to match it today. I am not saying that it is impossible or illegal, just be careful out there.

Do you mean to say that prices cannot go up? Once a price is listed on the internet, in a model year, it must remain unchanged for all future sales?

I'm confused but that does not take much. 🙂

One camper dealer shows listings on their site with the word "SOLD" by the price of some of their new campers. When I called to price one just like one of the "SOLD" models, I was informed that the prices had gone up 15-20% since those were sold.

it is different because I see a lot of these where they have modified the signs by placing "sold" over them.

We can dance around it all we want, whether they say, "The lady that does our Internet is on vacation", or whatever. They could keep an accurate listing if they wanted to. Think they get more interest in listing a $30k unit for $20k that they sold two months ago, or the same thing priced at $25k for one that just arrived? Any salesman will quote a great price on one they don't have to deliver.

Maybe a belated deletion from the website helps the perception that the dealer has more inventory or is selling a particular type of RV. I can see where it would be a hassle for a consumer. One would have to call to confirm that the unit is still on the lot.

FWIW, I had a similar situation purchasing a new truck. The salesman told me he would have the new truck on his lot the next day. After a few days of waiting and calling, I searched the Ford inventory in my area and found that the truck had been sold, previously. That dealership lost a customer and I bought a better truck at a different dealership, that same day.

I think many of you are missing another point of not removing sold RVs or other vehicles from inventory ads. They're left on to catch our interest even though they no longer exist. Then they try to sell you what they have left on their lots.
