Before you tear things apart try cranking the crank in the down direction until it stops then give it a partial revolution past that. There will be some resistance but that's okay. Now try cranking up and see what happens. This somehow adjusts the clutch. My late friend and Coleman/Fleetwood dealer told me about that. Try not to over crank when putting the top up because that can have the opposite effect.
