Floor replacemant

We have an Extreme Toy Hauler that has had some severe water damage due to a bad seal on one of the front access doors and now I have to replace the front half of the floors in the trailer. One of the problems I face is that Extreme put the floor directly in the trailer frame, in order to replace the floor I need to add braces under the trailer connected to the frame. Any suggestions on how to do this, what might be the best material to use, and how to connect the new floor to the frame?
  • We also fought water damage to floors in our TT. Since the subfloor ran under the windows where the damage was, hubby had to access it from the outside. He removed the bottom 2 panels of the skin and removed the rotten wood. Previous owner had replaced the subfloor to the wall, but not all the way under the windows. My husband replaced the rotten stuff from the outside. Our renovation project is chronicled at my website.

Good luck! We are nearly done with our reno project and LOVE the results!
  • No need to do that. Unless rot is all the way to edges. Cut out bad area with a circular saw set to depth of floor. For straight square cut that will look good screw a straight edge like a yardstick to the floor and use it as a guide for the saw on each of the four cuts to make a square. Just buy 2-3 pieces of angle iron and cut them the width of the trailer underneath. Then use self tapping stainless screws to attach them to the frame and you can support the new patch piece that way. Drive 1 1/2" self tapping screws into angle iron supports when putting patch piece in and drive them flush with the wood. Then fill gaps with wood filler and sand smooth and you are ready to lay flooring
  • Cut out the bad area, sister new floor joists to the old ones hoping you find some good wood. Barring that it is going to require basically taking all of the bolts holding the walls down out and lifting the walls and everything associated to it maybe a quarter inch. Then you can cut everything out and slip new in.
