- K_CharlesExplorerWill it stop the front of the truck from hitting something while you are watching the screen?
- 2oldmanExplorer III think that's really cool!
- skilesExplorerLooks pretty neat. I wonder how much that upgrade will be?!
- DutchmenSportExplorerThis is not new. I remember when it was discussed on RV.net about a year ago too. As I remember from all the discussion, if you don't know how to back up a trailer now, this will only confuse you more.
I do know, (for me), backing has become such a "first nature" I just "do it!" I'm sitting here thinking to myself.... to back up the camper does the top, or the bottom of the stearing wheel turn the direction you want the rear end of the trailer to go? Try to visualize with my eyes closed, I think it's the top? I really don't know ... I just do it! Funny hum?
As stated above. Backing is usually not the problem ... it's all the stuff in the front of the truck you've got to watch out for, especially with tight campsites! - Bionic_ManExplorerMight not be brand new, but Ford is just now starting to advertise it aggressively. Can't watch a football game right now without seeing the ad.
If you think this feature isn't needed, or won't sell, go and spend some time during a busy holiday weekend observing at a boat ramp. - 3oaksExplorerMay be alright for backing up a boat that you can see over in the camera. I could just imagine the damage being done to a camping trailer or other property while backing into a campsite lacking the wide open space of a boat launch like in the commercials.
I'm old fashion. I think it is better to learn to back up a trailer of any kind without depending on electronic technical assistance. Just like I always was an advocate of learning to drive a vehicle with a standard shift before driving an automatic. - 2oldmanExplorer II

- wrgrs50sExplorerI would like to try it ! I don't usually have any problems backing, but I'm just curious if it simplifies the process at all.
From what I've observed from watching those that have the most difficulty is that they turn the wheel from lock to lock, over steering in each direction.
I did notice that is was much more challenging when I changed from a bumper pull to a 5th wheel. It threw me the first few times adapting to the difference in reaction time. - TerryallanExplorer IIMight be fun. After all there are already so many electrical things in the truck, That I can do without , one more won't hurt me. You know. I can roll the window up, and down. I don't really need a power window. I can manually move the seat. I don't need power seats, and I don't need electric mirrors. and I don't really need Bluetooth for the phone. But that stuff is nice to have.
I don't need the truck to back for me. but might be nice to have.
