- ib516Explorer IIThe Ram 6.4L Hemi had the option for dual alternators when I ordered my 2014 2500.

Correct, the alternators in our ambulances are aftermarket.- carringbExplorer

Dual alternators have been an option for years. My boss had it on is 6.0 Ford Diesel to run an inverter.
Is this a diesel? I assumed that it was the new 7.3 gas engine that the thread is about. What would be new here is not "dual alternators" but that a gas burner is targeting markets that require dual alternators, typically commercial markets.
Nothing new really, the 8.1 GM V8 and Ford's Triton V10 were used extensively in commercial markets. I'm not sure if they offered dual alternators on the V10 though, our E450 ambulances have a single aftermarket alternator rated at around 400 amps.
Neither the V10 or 8.1L had factory dual alternators (although some aftermarket options were very nice, and didn't require the alternator be "flipped" to fit). This is the first gas engine with dual alternators, at least in recent times.

Dual alternators is an interesting departure from the current gas engines. - GrooverExplorer II

On my 15 passenger van version the first step in changing the spark plugs is to lift the body off of the frame to get room to work.
What?!? What service manual told you to do this? I have never done this, and have changed my V10's plugs 4 times myself.
That is what the dealer told me and he said that labor alone was $365. I have questioned his competence but not his honesty before. Maybe he lied but a took it to a local mechanic that only charged me $170. All the I know for sure is that from inside the van I could only see the back of the engine and looking in from the hood all I could see was the front of the engine. The plugs were on top and that space looked very tight. - We bring you.... Godzilla! :C
