With emissions in full swing, diesels are not getting much better then gas mpgs... Some claim a huge amount but for us that have driven both, we know..... Also TFL just posted 15mpgs out of their trip with a diesel Chevy on the hwy. Granted it was a factory off road with a slight lift, but a lot of diesel trucks are running around here in Florida with huge tires and lifts, and despite being so called tuned, you know they are not getting top mpgs compared to the older diesels or stock versions. That Ford 6.2, Chevy 6.0 and Dodge 6.4 are all very well built gas power plants and maintenance is next to nothing... My truck get 17mpgs unloaded hwy at 70 in Florida.
????
I see most HD diesels with DEF getting 19 to 20 Hwy empty, and most report between 10 to 12 mph and this is pulling 12,000#+ trailers. In many of the post here 6.2’s are getting 8 to 10 mph pulling less than 9,000#.
The only way you will get the same feeling as an EcoBoost is with a diesel. To putting a
3.5 EB or even a 5.0 EB in a HD truck would be fuel mileage.
