I never understood how Ford's last V10 could make so little power from so much displacement. Hopefully this one works out better for them.
??? 362 hp/457 torque was "so little power"? It had over 100 hp more than the older, larger 460 V8, and virtually the same power specs as the huge 8.1 GM V8, despite being 80 or so cubic inches smaller.
Of course, today's Ecoboost V6 makes the same power and torque with half the displacement, but I seriously doubt an Eco can run wide open throttle for 10 miles uphill in 100 degree heat at maximum weight without either overheating or defueling to protect the engine.
It will overheat.....ask me how I know.....
And if you don't believe him, ask me. - timmacExplorer

Great news to get something more powerful and fuel efficient to slip into the class A RV chassis. The V10 in the F53 chassis is great but an upgrade is long overdue.
I don't really agree about the V-10 HP/Torque not being so powerful, I have the full Banks Power Pack and 5 Star Tuning on a 3 valve V-10/5 gear trans and it rocks, towing 6500 lbs behind my Bounder I went over the Rockies on I-70 and never went below 3 gear and was able to maintain nearly 45 mph in most areas and did not use as much fuel as I thought. - fx2tomExplorer

Was looking at a little Ford Focus RS 2.3 liter 350hp and 350ft#. A lot of power for such a small motor. It will be interesting to see the numbers on the new 7.0Redwoodcamper wrote:

How did it compare to Dodge's V10? I think they left it under tuned to get to good duty cycle out of it.
I can tell you from my 2009 F350 w/V10 that after putting a 5-star tuner on it, it really woke up. I believe most of these large gas displacement engines are de-tuned from the factory from longevity. Doesn't matter the manufacturer.
My 01 Excursion had around 190k when I sold it, and my brothers F250 had north of 230K before he decided to rebuilt it. Big reason why I chose to stick with the V10. - BedlamModeratorHow did it compare to Dodge's V10? I think they left it under tuned to get to good duty cycle out of it.
- RedwoodcamperExplorerWhen you can't make a very good diesel... Make a good gas motor. I never understood how Ford's last V10 could make so little power from so much displacement. Hopefully this one works out better for them.

- Dave_H_MExplorer IIthat would be cool if I could get something like that in my F250 and still get 8.7 towing the 5th.
