I am looking to order a F350 to tow my new Montana fifthwheel. Even though I've owned ford diesels in the past, I had my heart set on ordering a 6.2 gas with 4.30 gears since I will only be towing in New England and under 2,000 miles a year.Well now I am starting to second guess my decision on the gas engine even though I know it will do the job. My main reasons for second guessing is because of power and resale value although I would be more likely to keep the gas rig longer since it's cheaper to fix out of warranty. During my truck quest, I can't help but notice that the ford dealers are loaded with 2015 power strokes and also a lot of 2011-2014 trade ins. Some 2014's have less than 2,000 miles on them. It makes me wonder, are they traded do to problems? Also, is the lots loaded with 2015 diesels because people want them or because the dealer is stuck with them?

Most of the PUs on the new dealer lots around here are all F150s. Just about everything else has to be ordered.

Down here, they sell more diesels than gas trucks. When I was shopping for my 250, I'd guess it was around 2/3 diesel and 1/3 gas inventory. I have a '15 250 diesel and my neighbor has a '15 350 diesel. Other than his tailgate getting stolen, not a single issue with either one. I did get the extended warranty for any engine repairs if I keep it that long. The '15's may not be selling quite as fast because there's a redesign coming for '16 I think. With rebates and discounts, I got almost $11k off sticker.I was looking for a gas truck too, but ended up with a diesel. Many friends told me to get the diesel since it will tow way better and the resale value is much higher, and more desirable when traded in or sold. I ended up with a '15 250 Lariat diesel 4x4 crew cab and really like the truck.

Dealers are getting smarter, if you require a diesel, you should be getting the 350.Funny thing, at the local CGs, you see most TTs, and many FWs, being towed with 150s. I noticed one yesterday, from another state, a 150 ecoboost, towing a 33' FW bunkhouse, with truck full of family, bed full of bikes and gear.Whatever works, use what ya got! I would buy the gas engine for what you feel is your towing needs.

The 6.7 Power Strokes are very reliable and make great daily drivers too. Many people buy 3/4 or 1 ton trucks and don't really need them and the rougher ride makes many who are use to a 1/2 ton trucks ride go back to a 1/2 ton truck.

BTW... At the local Ford dealer here I see several used Super Duty's and used RAM 2500/3500 trucks on the used Ford lot just about all the time. The resale for the Super Duty's 6.7 PSD are so high that it's economically better to purchase new.

Good luck... 6.2 or 6.7 PSD are both great engines with great Torque Shift 6 speed transmissions.

If resale values are partially based on supply, and there are little to no gas Super Dutys, there is little supply for the demand. Seems to me there resale may not be as some may think. Either way the resale value is proportional to what you pay.
