I'm assuming the reference to the labor pool in Indiana is in one of the videos. I certainly would not consider this a negative. When we toured the DR plant in Millersburg where our ROO was built, about 95% of the employees were Amish. You'd be hard pressed to find a harder working bunch that take pride in doing the best possible job. They build what the designers design. DHs background was in manufacturing management and he said he wished he could have had such dedicated and committed employees. The man who gave us the tour commented that the RV industry is IT in that area and if they turn out junk their jobs will be gone, so they're working hard to do it right. We've been pleased with both of our Rockwoods.

I had a Shamrock 21RS I pulled with a Toyota 4Runner. It was the max the 4Runner could tow safely, but gave me an additional 4 feet via the rear slide when I arrived at my destination.

If you have a short wheelbase tow vehicle they are one thing to look at.

It was a great unit.

To be a "hybrid" the trailer has to have some canvas, whether it be just 1 bunkend or 3. An "expandable" does not need canvas, but would have either the rear slide or something like the Trailmanor. If you're looking at a camper without canvas, it's not truly a hybrid. Many campers other than a standard TT are called hybrids, but don't meet the requirements of the canvas. For whatever reason, a TT with a side slide that has the dinette or other is just considered a TT with a slide. Makes no sense, but that's the distinction. We just made the change from our ROO 23SS hybrid to a TT with a side slide and love it, although miss the feeling of the openness of the unzipped canvas and sleeping under canvas. Don't know why there seems to be a sense of steering clear of a rear slide because they can be just the perfect thing for many. Hope you can find the perfect one for you.

I know it might be something your not interested in but, have you looked at trailers like the Trailmanor? It's kind of a hybrid but IMO a better design.

What the man says is true about the labor pool basically being the same for all trailers built in Indiana. So keep that in mind.

I often run some searches on the forum looking for specific models. I run wide open query and only see five posts. Search rvt and see 4 units or less. Not popular however I do like the fr 25rs.

I have a rear slide and really like for many of the reasons mentioned above. Shorter to tow, lots of open space when opened. I have had no problems. As far as cleaning before closing what is the difference between a rear slide bed, a dinette slide, or kitchen slide? They all stick out of the TT some where and have the same ability to get wet dirty or whatever. I usually drag an old towel across my dinette and bed slide before closing and it keeps most of he leaves, water and debris of when closing. We love our king bed and like having the hard roof and sides. I talked to people at an RV show and they were saying they were told to stay away from rear slides but I'm not sure by who or why. Find the floor plan you like, do some research on the mfg and decide what's best for you. Everybody likes something different and that's why there are so many floor plans and styles. Spend less time worrying and more time camping

Did he mention why he's pushing the Grey Wolf?? Guessing he makes a better profit on it. If you like the Shamrock, that's what you should buy. It's your camper, not his. Have heard good things about the Grey Wolf, but from personal experience x 2 the Rockwood ROO/Shamrock + our new TT is also a quality product. Just for the sake of reference, suggest you check RVW and also google the model you're looking at. Then you can compare apples to apples. A "good deal" is certainly a variable. You need some things in hand to be able to see just how good is good. Bear in mind that the season in your area is beginning to wind down, and he's not going to want to have a unit sitting on his lot all winter. You should be able to negotiate on this. Compare prices nationwide, remembering that the seasons and transportation costs will effect the price. When you go back for that next look, go armed with paperwork to show him, if you get to that point. Generally speaking, you should be able to get about 30% off the true MSRP. Good luck. This negotiating thing is a real pain. Good luck.

im in New Jersey and I have a local Forest River dealer..the same dealer we bought our used Kodiak Hybrid from..he tells me he will give us a good deal, he keeps pushing the Grey wolf line but I really like the Shamrocks.. This dealer has been really great, fixing stuff on our 8 year old hybrid for free or just charging for parts. Broken steps, A bad circuit board in the fridge.. and some other small things.. So I really want to give him our business.. Thanks all for your input

Most of the Shamrocks/Roos are truly "hybrids". The rear slide is considered an "expandable". They work very nicely for some folks, BUT....if you're tall, give the bed a test to see if you're comfortable. When the rear slide is in, anything that might be on the walls in that area has to come down. Some have bathroom/kitchen access while in transit and others don't. You need to decide if that's important for you. Regardless of "hybrid" or "expandable", making the bed is not the easiest chore. We had an '07 ROO since July '06 and absolutely loved it - after we learned a trick to making the beds from both inside and outside....the bad thing is that it won't work with the rear slide expandable. Take a good look at the rear mechanism and see what's involved in maintenance. My dear cousin and DH had a KZ rear slide and he was constantly having to wire brush/Rust-o-leum the frame. May be a problem for you, may not, but check it out. Suggest you make sure it's an electric slide....theirs was not and was a real killer to pull out. FYI, the Shamrock and the ROO are identical other than exterior graphics and colors. You'll find more ROO dealers. If you haven't already done so, suggest you check RVWholesalers to see if they carry the model you're looking for. If it doesn't show on their website, you might call and see if they can get it. They're located in Lakeview, OH. We saved over $4000 on our ROO over the local guy and even more than that on our new TT - and that was after trip expenses to pick it up. Very satisfied with RVW.

I have a rear slide made by Gulfstream. I can access the everything inside, except the sofa, when the bed is in. Triple bunks in front, rear queen slide, sofa & dinette, all in a 25ft box. Not sure how far you are from Albany but RVDirect sells Forest River and Jayco. Both manufacturers offer rear slide models.

I have a rear slide and love it also. The King Bed is great. We can get to the kitchen and bath when closed. It has an extremely large Bath for a TT.

They are extremely hard to locate at dealers. Have cons such as cleaning off the rear slide before closing, interiors blocked when closed, and other growing pains over the years. Hybrids win for short storage needs, summer camping only, and highest number of beds. My 21ft htt has 2 tents and rear bunks, thats sleeping for 6 without using a couch or dinette.
