  • The Formaldehyde should be completely disapated by now. But if it concerns you Home Depot used to have home test kits for it from "Healthy Home".

Or get a DIY home Formaldehyde/Explosive Gas test kit...

The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association says...
"Ventilate. Open a unit’s windows to allow fresh air in and run any fans and the air conditioner to lower the temperature and humidity before each trip. If a unit has a pungent odor or you experience any irritation, the best bet is to ventilate the unit."
  • What's it smell like when you went in it to check it out before buying?

I have breathing problems and am sensitive to odors. We bought a 1998 Fleetwood in 2009 - so it was 11 yrs old. I had no problems with any of the smells that come along with the new units.

Edit: that's not worded very well. Going in new units, the smells give me problems. Our used unit did not cause me any problems.

  • Yes There is always going to be outgassing of chemicals in RVs just like the new car smell in cars and trucks.
  • Can't address your model specifically, but our 2005 had some. It cleared quickly.
