- cacoonExplorerI have a 06 Ram 2500 diesel. My trailer is a 2012 Keystone Springdale 281bhs. I have consistently averaged 10 mpg. One trip out of many when I had water tanks full and another 60 gal of water in truck I got 6mpg. I usually travel about 60 to 65. If I push 70 mpg goes down quickly.
- DenlorExplorerthank you ripperoo: as stated just wanted to know what others get as I thought my mileage/gal. was out of line so I did some more calculations and yes I was way out of line. I now am at a 11.5 to 12 and I think that is not bad. Maybe the fuel between the US and Canada makes the difference. We have fuel with very low sulphur and low Bio.
- ksbowmanExplorer III just finished a trip to the Black Hills with a 7k FW. I got 14.8 with my 05, 2500, 5.9, 3.73 auto. Best buy I ever made. My 01, 2500, 5.9 gas gets 8 to 9 hooked on to a stock trailer with 10k gross.

Too many variables. You get what you get. If your worried about fuel economy, then maybe you better sell your RV and truck and buy yourself a hybrid.
Wow, absolutely useless answer. He didn't ask your opinion, he asked what those who have 5.9 Cummins engines get for mileage.
OP, if I had a Cummins, I'd tell ya. And I'm sure it would be better than the 8.8mpg I get out of my gasser. - canoe_on_topExplorer'06 5.9 CTD towing about 10,000lb TT. 10-11 at 60-62 mph. 1700 rpm with 3.73. Might see 12mpg on a good day. Have gone as low as 7-8 bucking strong headwind. 60-65 mph seems to be the sweet spot. Would, no doubt, do better at 55 but, never tried it. Mileage drops significantly at 70 and above.
- thib2722ExplorerI have a Dodge 2500 towing about 10K and I get 10 on a good day. We've hit as low as 7 in the hills. Towing a utility trailer or boat, I get about 15. That huge trailer drags quite a bit of wind.
I can't imagine anyone getting anything close to 15 towing a TT or 5er. - Old-BiscuitExplorer III14K VERY Tall 5'vr.......10 to 12 mpg..........4:10 rear end
- powderman426Explorer10 mpg pulling 10k. Truck has 4:10 gears
- downtheroadExplorerYou asked: "what do you get pulling a 12,000 lb. TT with your 5.9 Cummins?

I am getting between 15 and 16.5 but have heard guys say they get 17-19
Sorry, I have to doubt both of these claims.
But truthfully, I am getting around 21 with my Duramax..honest. - qtla9111NomadCorrect me if I'm wrong, but all tvs towing a fiver or a standard TT all average around 10-12 mpg because of wind resistence.
