That 6spd has probably cost them a sale to me. I’ve got an early 6.0 that has been a great truck, but it does struggle with our camper. I held off on buying a truck for 2 years to see what the new one had to offer. I’d checked out the Ram 6.4 in case my truck died, and read about their gear selection issues, then when the Chevy 6.6 came out I was disappointed that it had the 6spd.
After reading forums and watching reviews everyone is raving about how much improvement the 8spd made in the Ram, and I’m beginning to hear things about the Chevy 6spd year selection.
I test drove both last week, and the Ram 8spd felt much better, and I liked the interior better. I really wanted to love the Chevy since my current one I’ve had for 17 years, and 238k miles of reliable service. I feel guilty leaving Chevy, but at this point I will probably go with the Ram.
