Just like in our cars having a accurate fuel gauge is important not only for running out of fuel at a inconvenient time but also discovering a potential leak sooner..

I think the Worthington tanks with the float gauge is the way to go...

I installed gauges on our tanks. Don't really function as a gauge normally would. Gives 3 readings - have gas in the tank, almost empty and empty. Works okay for me. Can just flip the lid on the top of the tank cover to read the gauges, but is probably just as fast to lift the cover off. Had to install an elbow for each gauge to get the hose arrangement to work.

Our TT came with the regulator facing towards the rear and could not read the indicator to see if it has switched tanks. Why would they do that? Flipped it around but had to lower it on the threaded rod so the hose to under the trailer would reach.

You can manage just fine without gauges or a level indicator by monitoring the indicator on the regulator. You can now buy a see-through fiberglass 31 lb tank as in the photo for $300. There used to be another one a few years ago but was recalled and taken off the market.

Twenty pound tanks are now available with a real float guage. I have purchased two for our trailer and another pair for our grill from Sam's made by Worthington. These seem to work well and sure beats taking the tank out to weigh it which is what I have done for years. Not sure why these have not been made available for 30 pound tanks.

The best, most accurate and easy to use gauge out there is the TRUMA LevelCheck. There is no guesswork involved and no messes made. This gauge is simply the best thing out there.

If the automatic switch over regulator is used properly you will always know when your propane is half gone and have a bottle to be filled. What else could possibly be needed?

If you really need more capacity get larger bottles or a third to swap in immediately.

If your regulator is not working I recommend Cavagna available on Amazon.

That is pretty cool but has the same problem as the Digital infrared, I have propane tank cover on my tanks. I have a infrared reader and one solution would be to drill several holes along the side of the cover than I can shine the laser in for a reading. Not real convenient but better than nothing..

I purchased the Dometic LP gas gauge that is listed below. I can pinpoint my tanks to 1/2 inch. It's an amazing new little tool. It also has pretty high ratings on Amazon.

I think it would be used to measure the temp difference at the liquid level - like a digital version of the warm water test or the stick-on temp strips.
