I have looked at prior threads - in particular Sleepy's comments back in 2009. Hopefully I'll catch him in a good mood...
1. Generator ran fine last weekend - but battery was weak so I replaced it today.
2. Reversed polarity and blew a couple of fuses but replaced them.
3. Tried to start generator after replacing 7.5 A fuse by "local" start switch on generator... Just getting a click and the gen tries to turn over but doesn't quite get er done.
4. It's in a 2003 1121 - build Oct 2002 - kin to Sleepy 1121. What were the symptoms when you - Sleepy - "wore out your starter"? I wonder if I have the same issue - but only 140 hours on set.
I just happened to be online this morning... waiting out a storm front NE of Cincinatti, Ohio.
As I'm sure that you know the suggested 30 minutes of run time per month would have used 60 hours of your 140 hours total.
I very seriously doubt that you have starter problems... I had a thousand or even many more hours
A srong battery is required for starting our remote controlled Generac propane generators. Is your new battery(s) fully charged? Turn on your trucks engine... that will add a little power while you try to start the generator.
Your generator has circuit breakers on the face of the generator.... you have probably already flipped them off and reset them. The generator should run with them off. (No load)
And since you tried starting the generator from the switch on the generator?
Have you checked the heavy wires where they are joined on the threaded posts... maybe spray with WD 40 and tighten.
While your problem sounds electrical... Are you sure that you are getting propane? If the generator just wouldn't start until the house batterys ran down..
I always light the stove in the camper just to make sure that we have propane all the way through the syatem when I refill my propane tanks.
then... I'd look first at the "Carborator... there is a flimsey little rubber tube that can cause problems...
and last... a crimped propane hose. The hoses have a lining that can crimp while looking normal on the outside.
You should PM... my cell phone gets the PMs...
I'm traveling at the moment.
