Goodyear and/or Maxxis owners

I am running the Maxxis 225/75 -15 E tires now. I think that there are several quality ST tires suppliers now. I would not count out Carlisle Traile RT. I am currently camping in Michigan's UP and a 40' toy hauler with triple axles is sitting beside me with Carlisle 225/75 - 15 E on it. He is loaded lighter that me.

I bought a set of Maxxis M8008 in May and have put around 2,000 miles on them since. No problem whatsoever.

I run Maxxis M8008 215/75R14 tires and am very satisfied with them. I monitor them closely with the TST 507 TPMS system when underway. I have read several times that trailer tires age out at 3 to 5 years, so I plan to replace them at 3 years. Only a single axle, so two tires won't set me back too bad.

There is a relationship between tread separation and tire air temperature, so having a TPMS that monitors temperature as well as pressure should warn of impending tire failure which includes separation. I would not use any trailer TPMS that does not monitor both, and IMO temperature is probably the more important of the two.

We found living in FL heat it was more important to go from load range D to E. Brand is your choice but we feel the load range is a more important factor.

I had a set of Maxxis E's on my fifth wheel. Found 1 with a broken belt on a trip and put the spare on. I had a terrible time finding someone to warrant it.
The point is, Goodyears are very easy to find on the road,if you have a failure. Maxxis are not.

I run a Pressure Pro TPMS and would not be without it. But just so you know TPMS will not do you any good when you have a tread seperation on a tire. I have been there done that and the tire never lost pressure.

I like the idea of a TPMS. To those of you who have added TPMS: Does this look any good?

Don't cheap out, I doubt that unit will pick up the signal from back on your trailer. A good TPMS system can cost $300-$500 and will give you both pressure & temperature plus a warning if they go out of range. You want an expandable one not one that only handles 4 tires. With my setup I am monitoring 10 tires.

We had four Maxxis 8008's put on in Quartzite AZ two years ago. Towed east from there down to the Florida Keys, back up to South Carolina, then west to Califonida, and north to Washington. Been back to Utah twice, and down to Oregon twice, plus several hops around Washington state. No problems.

We had to replace two of the Maxxis a couple of months ago due to bent axle, and suspension failure. Both of the tires had worn bald on the inside edge. Both were replaced with two more Maxxis.

Before that we had four Hercules load range D that disintegrated and one TowMax that exploded while it was on the spare tire carrier. The tire had a total of 30 miles on it and it blew up while the RV was parked in the driveway.

This one does not also monitor air temperature inside the tire, and that is just as important since the blowouts are often directly caused by excessive termperature (which could be caused by underinflation, excess speed, direct sunlight, etc.). I would look elsewhere if I were you. The system I bought cost 2x that amount and right now comes with a free 3 year warranty. Don't want to get onto more on this thread, since it would be off topic. ;)
