Gopro as a backup cam?

Got a new GoPro...never have used one (yet). Unboxed it and downloaded the app to my phone. They have a function that you can view what the camera sees. It came to me almost right away and thought I could use that to hook up my trailer to the hitch! I have an older truck and SUV with no tailgate cam so I went to YouTube and sure enough it is being done! Does anyone else do this? Or used it on the back of the trailer itself?
  • I have used my GoPro as a backup camera. It was connected to my phone via wifi. There was a noticeable delay between the GoPro and my phone. I would back up a little and then let the camera catch up. After a few months I installed a wireless backup camera. I power my camera from the 7 pin plug (connected to the reverse light pin) and the monitor is connected to one the upfitter switches in the cab. The camera only activates when the truck is in reverse.
  • I think it would depend on how far away you get. now you got me wondering about it, I may have to get mine and try it to see.
  • I’m sure it would work great. Just establish how much delay, if any, there is
