Grand Design 2018 Imagine 2500RLS

On a recent trip stoped by the local elevator and worked up some scale numbers
My truck 2019 Denali 2500 door sticker 10,000 GVW Front 5200 Rear 6200 Payload 1995 lbs. Doing the math 10,000 - 1995 = 8005 lbs out of the factory. Before hitching trailer truck was 8776 lbs myself ,wife and all other items including a 100 lbs. generator
Now with trailer attached ready for travel and 20 gallons of water on board. Gray and Black were empty.
Truck front 4760
Truck rear 5080
Trailer 6000
15840 GCWR
TRAILER weight 7064 minus Tongue WT 1064 equals 6000 lbs. on Trailer Axles
Works out to 15 % tongue weight . My pass through is full and 2 batteries on tongue
We’ve pulled this trailer out west Oregon, East to Gettysburg Pa and UP of Michigan
It stays absolutely glue to the rear I Drive 65-68 on E ways with one hand passing trucks crosswind it doesn’t matter. I have a Equalizer 4 point 1000 lb. bars
Long winded I know
PS out west and back 7200 miles avg. 12.75 hand figured
  • Nice LEVEL rig looks good and shows owner knows what he/she is doing.
  • You've got a good setup, nice truck, and trailer! Isn't towing fun, when you've all the right equipment! That mileage is hard to beat too! What could possibly go wrong? Trailer tires maybe?? Just messin with ya, have fun!

  • You know words without a picture means nothing so I found a picture. A very high portion of these miles are towing

Jerry with Lions Heads warranty one year no questions asked on tires they sent me there wholesale price for 4 tires and I took the money and put on Goodyear Endurance tires .
At the same time I put on Dexter ez flex equalizers and there wet bolt kit. Those upgrades are well worth the money
  • Great! Not many people get their rigs weighed. "I never weighed it but I know I'm under" and "Tows great" are the answers I see.
Have you weighed it without the WD bars connected? Curious to see how much weight transfer you have.

Edit - there are several active Facebook pages for Grand Designs and Imagines. There are also a few owners groups:

  • No I haven’t weighed without the WD on. I did take wheel well measurements the front raised maybe a quarter inch. Remember it had that big diesel up there. After the bars connected I don’t remember it changing any.
The rear settled around 2 inches and I set my bars to bring it back up those two inches. I don’t think there’s much pressure on the bars I use them mostly for the sway portion. I have towed without the bars on and it towed fine. The bars just dispute the weight around a little.
