gravity filling tank

Hey all, any tricks for gravity filling? This is the easiest way for me to fill my fresh tank at home. gauge is inside the camper hose hookup is a ways away. Also not sure how much I trust the gauge and its a PITA to get at the actual tank. is there a better way than running water into the hole until it comes out the overflow?

    Just don't pressurize the tank. If I fill mine too fast near the end, it always burps water out. Water going in faster than air coming out. These tanks don't like pressure at all. I have a mini ball valve and hose extension on my water hose to regulate flow into the tank. I let it roll out for a few min to keep things clear.

    It takes 1 minute to fill a two gallon bucket from my water hose. If I want 20 gallons, I run it for ten minutes.

    20 gallons is all we need for a 2 or 3 days. Otherwise, I fill it till it overflows. I have a 36 gallon tank.

    I guesstimate every gallon that flows in and count to 40 (my fresh water holds 40 gal.). I listen to water nearing the top and wait for it to gush out of the spout...keep your face back.

    I just time my water flow. I know how long it will take to fill the tank and be there for the final filling.

    Don't know of any better way then then water fill connection. I did attach this valve to my hose so I can turn it off at the camper itself

    If it's quiet where you're at, you will be able to hear it backing up before it overflows.
