Well I left Tuesday at midnight for my first trip in my TC and returned yesterday at 6 PM.The trip was a 190 mile one way trip to the York Fairgrounds in York Pa.I took a slow ride on all interstates and really at times had to hold on and drive the truck in some really serious crosswinds...but I made it to a Walmart about a half mile from my destination around 3:45 am and went in to get a few things.
I hung out in the parking lot then around 8:00 am headed to the fairgrounds to get on line with the other preregistered campers while waiting on line I checked the fridge and saw that the milk was ice cold and the cans of soda I had packed prior to leaving were ice cold too.
I was running the fridge in the DC mode so I was pleased to see that it was working fine.
After a quick check in I picked my spot and hooked to shore power and hooked up the water and I also then set the fridge to AC.
My first night was extremely cold with high winds the furnace kept up nicely and ran most of the night...inside I didn't hear or feel any drafts it was quite cozy.
The next morning I took the dog for a walk to check out if there were any more people there with TCs ...well except for me there was only one other one.
Boy and I thought I had a load on my truck !
I would have liked to have gotten a better picture...but the guy was in there eating his breakfast and I wasn't sure he would like me taking pics of his unit.
Here is what I learned...
After going to this event for the last 27 years and spending small fortunes on motel rooms it is great after walking around a few hours to have a place to rest get a drink and recharged and get back to it.
I saved plenty on meals I ate breakfast and lunch in the TC for 3 straight days...I went out for dinner with friends.
I cant believe how efficient the propane appliances are (at least the ones I used) I was always boiling water for shaving and cleaning up and I used the furnace quite a bit too and the gauge was on less than 3 quarters and when I looked at it when I turned it on and when I shut it off is was just on half.
it was also nice towards the end of one of the days some friends of mine from out west stopped by the TC to check it out...I was able to make coffee and BS with them for awhile...there was 4 of us in there 3 in the dinette and I sat on the bunk step...a little tight but not terribly uncomfortable.
and last thing I learned is don't put salad in a bag on the top shelf of the fridge...leave it on the door.its to close to the coil and it will freeze and when it thaws out it sucks !
Im already looking forward to my next trip !
