= gross vehicle weight rating. The max weight of the vehicle. A number determined by many factors including frame, axles, tires, springs etc.
You will also see UVW ( unloaded vehicle weight) also known as empty weight,and cargo carrying capacity (CCC) also called payload. CCC is the difference between the UVW and GVWR.
