Did that and it helped. But actually what I need is a new cord which thankfully only costs about $6.

It's a standard phone jack. I replaced my cord with one this last spring.

Lowe's and Home Depot sell phone jacks. Just wouldn't have the labeling.

Been having a problem with mine too. Will get it out of storage this week and take it apart. It won't stay on unless I hold it in. Will try cleaning contacts ...

Otherwise, a Lance dealer is nearby - I've bought parts from it in the past. I'll call Monday.
