Helio travel trailers?

Hey, new guy here. ๐Ÿ™‚ I wasn't sure where to post this, but figured I'd try here.

Does anyone own or have experience with Helio travel trailers, specifically their O2 model? Doing a search here and google, I'm finding practically no feedback or reviews from owners so I was wondering if they're just too new or if there is something about them that is keeping people away. On paper, the O2 seems comparable to a Scamp 13' deluxe, but the Scamp has a huge following while the Helio is almost unknown.

The Helio O2 is one of the few travel trailers that is light enough to be towed by my 2017 Outback 2.5, and based on the vendor's specifications, it's small enough to fit into a 10x15 self storage unit with an 8' door.

I can get a 2019 model O2 for just a little over $19k OTD. Seems like a good deal to me, but I'm wary of the fact that there isn't a lot of these on the road and zero discussion about them.

Looks to me like it has seams where the roof meets the sidewalls.

Where you have seams, you have the potential for leaks.

It would be nice if there was room to add a second battery.

If you though you needed one you could probably figure out a work around.

Helios are new to the US market. They're made in Canada and have 5 US dealers across the country. I just bought one after I did months of research. They're construction is unmatched here in the US. Total fiberglass wrapped and no water leakage can happen. Very lightweight. Not cheap. I haven't been on a trip yet but I love the way it's built. I needed low maintenance so I got Helio 04.

No one gets any actual experience from the interweb... Sure, you can watch all the U tube vids in the world and read hours and hours of posts on the deal, but at some point, you just have to pull the trigger and go for it and buy it and use it and go from there..

Once you experience some things, then you will have the questions you need answered.. Until you know what does or does not work for you, it's just a guessing game really.

So, as was said, renting is probably the best thing you can do to get your feet wet with the whole TT thing..

When I bought my 2019 Rockwood, I had a ton of questions about all the new stuff with it.. My last trailer was a 2003 Prowler and while the appliances were similar, there was a lot of new things that I had to be schooled about. I've been exposed to rv's since I was a kid, so I've been around them a lot.. Still can always learn a new trick along the way.

Good luck!

Mitch

Rent before you buy. Even a similar sized model will tell you more about your TT needs than almost any other option.

If you like it fine, if not you are not out the big bucks.
Twenty six foot 2010 Dutchmen Lite pulled with a 2011 EcoBoost F-150 4x4.

I see they're made in Canada, or at least that's the location of their headquarters.
Possibly they're beter equipped for cold weather than units build south of the border?

Post your opinion after you see the unit.

It's beckley's in Maryland. I'm so new to travel trailers i wouldn't even know what to write about after looking at one. I should come up with a list of questions.

From the floor plans, it appears you have all the basics.

Itโ€™s cramped for a typical RVer and I myself like it small but with enough space to lounge inside (especially winters) but based on your description of your camping lifestyle, it will be adequate.

Some boondockers like it that way. Just the basics.

Do the walkthrough. Seems adequate for how you do your kind of camping.

Oh yeah, having a toilet is important -- even if you shower while seating on the toilet bowl, lol.

It looks very similar to the T@B trailers. We thought that was what we wanted, then we rented one for a week. Dropped it off at the end of the week and never looked back! I am about 5'10" and I couldn't stand upright in the trailer. The one we rented didn't have a toilet or shower and we found it to be small. If it is 2 people there isn't room for 2 to change at the same time.Give some thought to space in the event of bad weather. Basically this is a rolling bedroom.
There are people who have the T@B trailers and they love them, but it didn't work for us.
Good luck in your search.

my wife and i would prefer to actually be outside while camping, and use the travel trailer primarily for sleeping (at least for her, i'd still sleep in my warbonnet hammock outdoors). so something like the T@B would work for us. only when i saw the Aliner Ascape and Helio O2 did i see that these small travel trailers could actually have a bathroom that i started considering them as an option.
