Help AC and heater not working!

Hello, I have a 2016 Shasta forest river 30 foot travel trailer. Ac and heater were working fine and now both don’t work. I have checked all circuit breakers and all seem fine. I have checked all fuses with a tester all were good but I changed the ac fuse anyway. The battery is working because when I unplug the rv from the 30 amp plug in the lights and all work. Everything thing else are wirking. Lights, frig, micro, radio, bump out. I changed the Tstat.

I checked my red Tstat wire with a 12vd bulb and it did not light up. I think I don’t have any juice to my red wire?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

That link should be changed to display all forums, not take brand-new users to the least-used forum in this place.

I think Forum Technical Support was a less confusing title than what it was changed to, and will likely never be changed again. This kind of reminds me of working for the government, where they simply refuse to change something that's not working properly or is confusing, but somebody in charge thinks it's not worth bothering with.

Thank you everyone . I didn’t mean to cause any problems with my posts. I was just eager to get help and fix this ac and heater. I will not post again until I read all the rules.

Most likely source of the 12 volt thermostat power is from the furnace itself.You might check there for blown fuse or tripped breaker.
No power from there to the thermostat and no AC either.

Battery will supply the 12+ volts needed to run the thermostat and furnace fan. This is how people camp off-grid every day.

You have an open circuit between the battery and the fuse panel or between the fuse panel and the items that do not work. You will need to systematically look for 12 volts along the entire path to find the open circuit. Generally it will be at a junction, fuse, switch or breaker. Generally not mid wire. When you find 12v on one side and zero on the other of one of these items you need to clean, tighten, adjust, repair, or replace that item. If this seems daunting it might be best to call a mobile repair person or haul it into a shop.

Since your lights work I assume 12v power is getting to the 12v fuse panel. Pull each fuse and test with the meter.

Converter is easy. 120vac in, 13.6vdc out. Only trick would be getting to the wires. Need to disconnect from the battery to make sure you are not reading battery voltage. Divide and conquer.

Hello, I checked the battery and it is fully charged. With the battery only my lights work, frig, micr, radio pretty much everything except ac and heater.
If my converter is bad how do I check it?

Check voltage on the battery terminals. The check voltage off the converter output in the 12v distribution bus. I assume the converter is failed and battery is dead. Do the lights work?

If voltage is low put a portable charger (5+ amps) direct on the battery asap.

Hello and thank you for all your advice . A few questions: 1. How can I trace the power from my Tstat to the power source? 2. I can’t see any wires or fuses by my battery? 3. I tested our battery and it had a full charge? 4. Interesting info on the delay in the Tstat but I have no powers going to the Tstat. I also am plugged into a 30 amp line and have the battery on???

Any suggestions ?

On many RV's the thermostats on fridge, furnace/ac are run off 12v.

Yes you tested the 12v with the light coming on but the thermostats need a full charged 12v to operate, light do not they will come on with a low battery until the battery dies.

Check the output of your converter AND check your coach battery at the battery. Any type of 'low' voltage will cause the thermostats not to work.

The heat and ac will come on but when it hits the temp set and turns off it will not come back on if low voltage is present.

Also, if you have been "flicking the on off switch on the thermostat" trying to get it to work you've put it in between the delay mode and it will appear it is not working.

1.Step away from the thermostat,
2.quit flicking the on off switch,
3.put it on the ac mode,
4.set the temp for a temp where you know it 'will' come on depending on temps where you are located right now.
5. and WAIT...for the delay to cycle.

My delay is pretty long or so it seems like it. And to this day many times when I turn it on, I still get that panic feeling that my ac is broke when it doesn't come on immediately.

Same thing happened to me, but with the slide out. Checked everything and could not figure it out. Finally found the breakers/fuse things on the frame rail right past the battery. has a wire that goes on top and one on bottom. I had 3 of them. Everyone of them was loose. After I tighten them all up the slide out worked fine.
