HELP, I'm in a jam

When at Fort Wilderness don't hesitate to call the front desk it you think it could be a problem with the pedestal. One time we had to call and they had to change out the circuit breaker in their box. Imagine all the use their power system gets there with the heat and ac running.

It didn't "switch over to battery" It's always running on the battery except when it's plugged in then Convertor kicks on and charges the battery and powers all the 12 volt stuff. The A/C, microwave, electric water heater and electric function on the fridge all run on 110 only.

Follow Jbarcas post and you should have fewer issues.

Refer on propane, hot water heater on propane, blow dryers, microwave, AC running can combine to trip breakers.

I was in the Mojave desert once, running my AC, and plugged in an electric skillet...power went out. Checked all the breakers and fuses - all good. After about an hour sitting in the heat, it finally dawned on me to check the power post - the breaker at the post was tripped.
I was relieved nothing was wrong with the AC, but learned there is only so much power available to the trailer, and have to choose what big draw items will run at any one time.

I wish some of my camp site camping things turned out that easy haha... I always think the worse and have everything field stripped to the bare wire - then the wife is standing there holding the plug saying "isnt this suppose to be plugged in" hehe..

We all learn real quick how things work haha...

Mine was kicking off last year at an Army Corps Campground, it was packed out. I was glad that I had my 30 to 50 Amp adapter, changed over, no problems after that. I have found that running the AC, Microwave, and then the Hot Water Heater, something is going to trip.

It's amazing how easy it is to get used to the "way things work at home," where you have unlimited electric, water, hot water, sewer. Then you go out in the RV, where each of those things have limits (Hey, we're CAMPING already!) and you start finding out where your usage is profligate.

Somebody will figure out the 6 gallon water heater; running AC, microwave, coffee pot, hair dryer; doing the dishes with the water running continuously. And usually it's each of us in our newbie days. Been there, done that.

Having an RV is living in the lap of luxury -- just don't slide too far out to the edge of that lap, 'k?

My rule is do just about anything you like, but if it generates heat, choose only one of those activities.

I tell the DW she can have two things going, so pick 'em.
That list includes AC, micro, coffee pot, elect water heater, hair dryer or anything else she brought with her that plugs into the A/C outlet.

After popping the breaker a few times she understood.

I was at a campsite at a fairgrounds once, where I tripped the breaker, but the breaker was behind a locked panel and no one was around to help, so I had to move the trailer to another spot..

I had to give the lecture to the kids again about not using the microwave while the womenfolk were using the hair straightening irons. :)
