Help identify the make, year, model of this trailer

The 17 character VIN did not became mandatory until 1981. You're probably looking for a 4 or 5 digit serial number. It may be stamped into the steel of the tongue. On my 1980 it's on a sheet of paper inside the closet.

Oh the ongoing saga - is there somewhere regular joes like me can look up VIN numbers? I don't trust what the insurance company is telling me, I want to do my own research. Thanks!

Tiger4x4rv posted a picture of a Mercury. The striping on the front and side looks somewhat similar to yours. My parents Terry was a similar White over blue paint, similar sheet metal, similar size, same windows, icebox and cabinet latches. However, the Terry did not have that jazzy stripe down the side and the interior was a beautiful REAL knotty pine. As a kid I used to lay in bed and stare up at the ceiling and count the knots til I fell asleep. They don"t make em like that anymore. Dale

Steve B - it's not my insurance that's giving me the hard time - the accident wasn't my fault so have to deal with her insurance (a VERY well known company who should have this figured out better IMHO.) Will definitely be getting niche insurance when I get a new-to-me one after this all gets sorted!

Dalo - I did see a Terry on Craigslist on Friday, very similar. I've got a list running on what mine could be - Westerner, Aljoa, Terry, Lancaster, Mercury. Westerner seems to the closest! We'll see how this all shakes out...

My parents had a 1952 Terry purchased the year I was born. This looks close (but not exactly like) what I grew up with. Many different makers built trailers like this in the early 50's. Ours was a 13 footer. Pretty normal size in those days. Believe it or not our family of 6 spent many happy summers camping all over the western states in this little tin box.

If/when you find another vintage rig, check tincantourists.com for info on insurance companies that specialize in insuring vintage campers, and understand the market value with the new interest in them.
