Help needed on 3 way fridge

Hi
We just bought a Rockwood folding trailer with a 3 way fridge. The fridge runs fine on electricity, but when I try and run it on gas, the pilot light looked way to high so I shut if off and have not tried it again. The refridgerator is model RM2193. Can anyone tell me if the pilot light is supposed to be that big, and if not, what I can do to fix it.
I have a photo but do not know how to post it.
Thanks
Kent
  • The 'gas ON/OFF safety valve' knob has 4 positions
    OFF
    Low
    Medium
    High

You turn it to High when lighting. After main flame is lit you can leave it on High if ambient air temps are above 80*F (or if you have open door issues-----door being opened a lot).
If contents get too cold you can lower temps by using the other positions (Low/Medium) which will regulate the size of flame accordingly.
Main flame stays lit until you turn gas off or a failure occurs.

  • A fridge doesn't have a pilot....If it is self lighting, you have a spark unit....Do you have to light the burner when you go to gas?.....The flame you see is the burner.
It needs to be high enough to heat the system. How high is it?
  • Thanks
I guess it may be the burner. Does the burner burn like that? I am not familiar with these fridges, but have a gas stove and the pilot and burner are not in the same place.
  • Are you sure is the pilot and not the burner. The burner is about 3/4 inches long and 1/4 wide. Pilot should be about 1/4 round.
