- tatestExplorer III would put a rack for the bikes in the bed of the truck, and build or buy an overhead rack to carry kayaks, canoes, small rowboats etc. This would be like the racks contractors use to carry ladders, tubing, long pieces of lumber.

Extreme? No.
Completely reasonable and awesome? Yes.
Thanks :B - woody0331ExplorerThis link shows you how to make a truck bed bike rack out of pvc. I made one and use it in our toy hauler. I don't think it will help your kayaks though.
http://www.utahmountainbiking.com/goodies/TruckbedBikeRack.htm - FLGupExplorerOur first RV and truck we no longer have. It was a Dodge 1500. We put 2 kayaks and a canoe on top and bikes on the RV on a front bike rack. We might have been over on weight with the 1500 but made the trip fine. Won't do it again. If you have a F250 you would be fine with this setup.
- NanciLExplorer III have a cap on the bed of my pickup, and with Yakima 78" bars, I carry two long sea kayaks on "J" cradles and a 17 foot canoe between them. You could easily carry the third canoe there.
Then I carry our two mountain bikes in the bed under the cap, with all the gear, and I could easily put a third bike in there.
Send me an e-mail, and I'll explain how to do it with their "landing pads" on the cap and on the front cab roof.
If you don't have a cap on the back bed then that is a whole different story
jack L - SeamuttExplorerDo a google on inflatable kayaks, some very impressive tough ones out there. I was going to get a hard shell but changed my mind to an inflatable, easy to store and will just leave it in the truck for spur of the moment paddling, no racks, no mounting leaving room for your bikes. I know what I want, just waiting for summer sales.

- mhsmithExplorerSaw a 5th wheel with some kind of kayak mount on the back of the trailer a couple months ago. Had two kayaks that stood on end. Don't know if it was homemade or not but real nice idea. Had V on bottom for them to rest in and could probably have a third if needed.
