Highland Ridge RV

Has Highland Ridge RV/Open Range RV improved its quality since Jayco took it over and changed the name to Highland Ridge. Why did they change the name? Their campers and RV's still look very good. I know from experience that the original Open Range RV company had serious quality issues. They did stand behind their 2 year warranty. I had a tremendous amount of repairs during my warranty period, but once things were worked out it was a very good and reliable camper. I know that Thor bought out Jayco in July, but that should not be an issue if they leave the Jayco management team in place.

In general Open Range had a decent reputation before and after the sale.
Jayco did not buy Open Range to improve them but saw them as a viable company that was building a decent product.
Much in the same way Thor purchased the entire Jayco conglomerate Open Range and all.
The name Highland Ridge was given to Open Range to as a way to distinguish it's new purchase as a stand alone operation. I'm sure there were also liability reasons to isolate the old company from the new company.

We bought a 2016 Open Range in Sept. The fit & finish is very good. And there have been no issues w/ the camper it's self. Do have two wheel bearing seals that are bad. (only about 1000 miles on the unit) Both seals are on the same side of the TT, so I think there was an issue on the axle manufacture line. All is being replaced under warranty. (with the assistance of our dealer, Southern RV in Richmond, VA.)
This is our second TT so we have a 'little' experience and 'think' we know what to look for. As I said, so far everything is Good.
I have a good friend, and his wife, who have a lot more experience w/ TT's & class A's. They've looked over the Open Road and are impressed w/ the workmanship.
So my appraisal of the Open Road is Good. I'm sure there are others who will read this and strongly disagree.

I bought my Open Range in July (?) of 2015 and other than a broken Lippert axle spring I haven't had the first problem. We've only stayed in it for about 150 days or so and only towed it about 20,000 miles so I may not have tested everything yet. Everything I've looked at on it has been way overbuilt and of excellent quality. But it's only my 10th RV so I can't really compare it to every other make.

I don't know what moniker it was manufactured under but it doesn't say Jayco or Thor anywhere on it.
