Why do people come on here and ask about something AFTER they have bought it?

You asked so my advice is to sell it and get something that has not had such a bad track record.

Although wheels and suspension are upgraded on my 6.0, the rest is still OEM. I'm sure there plenty of others running OEM too. If I were to safely guess, I'm sure there more owners like me than ones that have done modifications. Who knows, there may be more 6.0's running around without problems than the total number of Rams sold at the same time...

Agreed... Our recent trip to Florida I saw more 6.0 PSD Super Duty's 05-07 year's going one way than I saw all years of Dodge/RAM cummins powered trucks round trip. The presence of these 6.0 PSD was impressive and the lack of Cummins powered trucks of any year was surprising. I saw more RAM trucks in Texas than I did in LA, Miss, Al, FL.

OK Fish, this is the third time in this thread that you have tried to make a point about seeing more Fords than Rams. We get it. You don't like Rams and go out of your way to make sure everyone knows that. OK, we get it. Simple math will tell you that there will ALWAYS be more Ford Super Duty trucks on the road than Rams simply because Ford sells more than Ram - always has, and probably always will. So, take a deep breath and relax knowing that you will always see more Ford trucks on the road. Sheesh!!!

Ford also sells a lot more than GM, but the numbers I saw were almost equal.

Sincerely,
The Blind Ford loyalist! :B

And we also read about people who buy RAM's who complain about the ride is too harsh on the DRW or the vehicle is too tall right after the purchase.

I could tell you the track record on the number of RAM's I saw pulling campers on our trip to Florida and back, or should I say the lack of! From TX, LA, Miss, AL, Fl, the ratio of RAM trucks compared to GM and Ford was a shocking 10:1 with Ford and GM at a very close race. But maybe they weren't full timers like you report. :R

I seen more Ford Super Duty 6.0 PSD going to Florida than I saw RAM cummins of any year going there and back combined. :W

BTW... The half ton trucks had RAM at a much less ratio but that's another thread.

Take off the blinders Troy, you missed half of the traffic! Go to Indiana and get real results from non myopic folks like you.
Every chance you get into a Ram thread is negative for some reason?

Share your towing experience in the flat lands of Florida :B Yeah I can hear it now..... 20 MPG @ 15k GVW and your fuel was only a buck seventy per gallon.

Rick this is a Ford thread...Just so you know. :h You're welcomed to make the trip to Florida and give us a full report. Again the RAM's was really hard to find. :R

No need to pull the cab to do injectors on the 6.0 but the 6.4 is another story or it could be just the dealership up charging.

Any of the trucks if chipped will not last long. Add in poor maintenance and you have a recipe for huge repair bills. As for working on a Power-Stoke or Dura-Max the Cummins is by far cheaper and easier to work on then the other two.

El Capo,
I have a family member who wrenches on RAM Cummins. His story is very similar to your's (Started with a Ford and then Chrysler) He started as a diesel tech for a Ford in '93 and in '11 switched to the RAM shop working on cummins. The Ford/Chrysler dealer he works at still sells Fords 3:1 over RAM's, but with the 6.7PSD the work wasn't there, so now he's full time RAM/cummins wrenching.

Everyone knows there were problems. There also are a lot of good ones. Next trip you take count how many you see on the road compared to other brands. Better yet, walk around the cg and see how many are there. If they were all junk as some folks here think would you see any?

My experience with this engine is that GOOD GAUGES ARE ESSENTIAL and can catch small problems before they become big problems. The Ford idiot lights are useless. Before buying a 6.0 one needs to know the temperature delta on the EOT and ECT. By keeping this at <15 degrees, most of the expensive repair issues can be avoided. Blown EGR coolers and head gaskets are a direct result of a plugged oil cooler and the only way to monitor this is by using good gauges.
The STC fitting on the oil cooler is known to be a weak point and can cause hot no-start issues but an updated part is available and is not that expensive to replace.
The other one is the fuel pressure that the ECU does not monitor but can be easily checked by an external pressure gauge.
If you know the weak points and check them before buying you'll have a workhorse of an engine.

Just open the hood of all three and you will see what one is still easy to work on. The other two I would only own under warranty!
