How much can your stock diesel turbo handle?

Ever wonder what the breaking point is on your stock turbo?

BOILING POINT: HOW MUCH POWER CAN MY STOCK TURBO HANDLE?

Well now you know.

Keep in mind that the power numbers stated are rear wheel numbers after all the parasitic loss from the driveline and not numbers at the crank/flywheel (or advertised numbers) which tend to be higher.

    440 RWHP so around 550 at the crank, not bad but definitely not at the mechanical limits.


    I was being a bit sarcastic about the oil. No not at the limits of the engine but I have never heard of anyone running that power drag racing and freeway racing on a stock turbo for as long as he did.
  • We pushed our 09 LMM to about 550hp to the wheels 650hp to the crank, with two years of drag racing. Best time was a 12.95 @ 102 mph with a race weight of 7400lbs.
