How much HP & torque do I need ?

I'm pretty sure most any V8 1/2-ton would work for that TT. Right now you can expect 40-60 mph wind gusts if driving through here within the next few weeks during a storm day.

IMHO, the most capable of the 1/2 ton trucks is the Tundra with about the same HP and torque as the Ford 6.2L gasser. The differential and the brakes were massive and with the 5.7L and 4:30 rear end it was a stump puller. It towed my 8000 lb trailer with no effort but I traded it for the reason most people trade 1/2 ton trucks... Payload. Just keep in mind there is more to selecting a TV than reading the published tow ratings and adding any of the aftermarket stuff is not going to increase any of the capacities any appreciable amount, if any.

All those trucks have the same dimension,s within 5" in length, 2" width.

The Titan has the worst gearing and is the oldest design, like 10 years! The F150 and GM twins offer the most payload, which you need to consider if adding a 200 pound bed shell, bed slide, camping gear, people and trailer tongue weight. Check the driver's door Tire and Loading sticker for as equipped payload as you shop and compare.

Get the best respective powertrian. There is little real world fuel economy difference between Toyota's 4.7L and 5.7L, yet a significant difference in power .

Have you considered a Nissan Armada?

Well, I think I'm making some progress. Visited a number of garages today: Ford, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, and dare I say it, Chevrolet !

Definitely going for a V8. These are my likes in order so far: Nissan Titan, Toyota Tundra, Ford 150, Chevy Avalanche, Chevy 1500. Why ? The Titan and Tundra seem, to my eye, to be smaller and would aesthetically fit in better with my smallish 19' TT. The domestic models seem to be SO big, and what would I do with all that bed size ?! And climbing up into them would not be easy with my arthritis.

I came across a "Bed Slider" which I thought was a really good idea. I'll be adding a cap over the beds.

Still got a lot of reading and research to do. If anyone has any comments on any of the above, I'd be pleased to receive them.

I put a 8'X11" additional cooler in the Trailblazer as soon as I purchased it. Covered most of one side of the rad. Still not enough. To put any more. I'd have to go with a thicker size one. And that would cost $200-$300, even if it would fit. And the latest thing is that the back window wiper doesn't work. So in addition to that this is the list of things that have gone wrong with it in three years: ignition switch had to be replaced, (just conked out at a road junction), right wheel bearing had to be replaced, tensioning pulley on the serpentine fan belt had to be replaced, remote key would not work in conjunction with couldn't lock back lift-gate, fuel gauge had to be replaced. You know what ? I'm fed up with trying to manage with its deficiencies!! Not sure I'll ever buy another Chevy product. Sorry, my rant for the day.

If we had understood frontal area air resistance, we may have considered a popup more strongly.
