How to empty tanks on a Palomino Solair 267BHSK

First I'll admit, I am a newbie. I'm hoping someone with an RV similar to ours can help answer a question. We just bought our first TT, a 2014 Palomino Solair 267bhsk. It has two grey tank valves and the normal one black tank valve. Everything I've read and watched says to never open the black and grey tanks at the same time...that you open then close the black, then open and close they grey. However (and we've not used the black yet so it's still clean from the mfg) we've found that the only way the RV will drain the grey tanks is while the black is open too. Are we confused on how the tanks flush or is our RV different or do I need to talk to the dealer?

I looked in the user manual and the Palomino website and it says the same thing:
'Remove the termination cap outlet, connect the sewer hose (adaptor) to the termination end, place the other end into an approved dump station inlet, open the black (sewer) water termination valve first, once dumping slows down, open the gray water termination valve, once contents are dumped, close termination valves, flush sewer tank with water, open termination valves one at a time until empty, close termination valves, disconnect sewer hose and store, install termination cap, add approved chemical deodorant as per manufacturer’s instructions.'

I have the same trailer, and the forward grey tank is plumbed into the pipe ahead of the black tank valve so you have to open the black valve then the grey tank valve for it to drain. Its not a problem as it helps flush the black valve and piping as well as a vacuum on black tank. I use my trailer once a month and it works great. The user manuals are very generic at best. "On the job training" is the best bet!

It sounds like they have brought the grey tank outlet into the system ahead of the black tank valve. It's not the way I have seen it done usually, which would be both tanks empty into a common outlet with their own valves, but it would still work OK, who knows...maybe even better? Still, I like the idea that the black tank is done, and whatever is left behind in there cant come out anymore, and the grey flushes out the line to the outlet.
