How to register a car I bought while traveling???

I recently traveled to another state to buy a new car and it was a bit of a mess with my local DMV. I got caught in one those situation where both sides (the seller dealer in another state and my local DMV) were doing what their instructions told them to do and it wasn't working. A few phone calls and a fax from the dealer to my DMV and all was worked out.

The main thing is talking to your insurance agent to be sure you're covered.
