Mikeup, back in 2008 there were body on frame mid size SUV. Present day, you have one: the 4runner.
tow ratings have tanked, and CUV are bloated sedans and wagons. Zero offroad ability!
I agree, the Ford Explorer and Sport Trac were killed off for a large short wagon on a unibody, oddly still called an Explorer. Ranger also killed off with no replacement.
Dodge, the Durango and Dakota were killed off, but there is a large unibody station wagon replacement oddly called a Durango still??!!!
I believe the Chevy Trailblazer was killed but I'm anti-GM anyhow I don't follow them.
The Frontier based Pathfinder was killed off for a unibody station wagon replacement oddly still called a Pathfinder.
Honda, did they ever build anything that wasn't a unibody car underneith as the Pilot and Ridgeline?? Guess not, guess that's why I have no use for Honda. :)
I guess now with everything limited to 5000 lbs tow rating and 500 lbs tongue rating, you better build some super ultralight travel trailers. So they did. Now they're on the lots, they're taking space that once went to hybrids and pop ups.
The ultralights are out there! I have seen some extremely shady cuv towing some of them. Total disregard for there 3500lb tow ratings. I am not talking about the mid size bloated waistlines from Detroit, but the Korean variants. I even saw a Subaru outback towing a full height trailer and almost crapped my pants.
