I could live with an Atlis type truck

Ask three questions: tow capability, range, and how long does it take to recharge? Also plugging a rechargable into a cg receptacle may not be popular with the cg owner.

All are answered with what "will be" not what is.
Have you seen anything on actual production? This seems like it's still pretty far from production. They don't claim to even have a test vehicle at this point. Even the battery and charging claims have only been done with small scale models.

Yeah, at this point it's pretty much still on the drawing board. At least they distanced themselves from Elio Motors. LOL

I'm assuming regen braking. But it's still vapor at the moment.

EV’s have dynamic braking. Foundation brakes will be used much less in normal driving? Kinda like a locomotive except the regen energy is stored in the batteries not dispersed as heat.

So working toward a workaday world electric light duty truck in normal configurations (payload, bed size) is damnphool thinking?

I could live with a Rivian. Can it haul my 3000lbs camper?

Many great things however if towing you may still have range anxiety. Will need to plan carefully if not going straight point to point with charging access.

The first person to cross the US on the Tesla supercharging network sure made event history. Would be very interesting to be the first EV truck to cross the US using just the included electric at the campgrounds along the way. Who has the guts and determination for this?

Intriguing, but it is still coming with a hefty price tag. The 'starting' number of $45k, I would assume, would roughly equate to the entry level 1/2 ton at $30k. That's a 50% variance in cost. When you start talking about a $50k truck, you could easily be looking at $75k+ for an electric truck with similar capacities. If you figure a 10 year lifespan (don't know how realistic that is), you'd have to save $2,500+ per year just to at least one study suggests, costs some 40-50% of what you would have spend on gas).

All in all, conceptually interesting, but I don't think they present a viable cost savings to the average buyer in the near term. Those driven by environmental concerns, and those who want the cool new thing, will grab them in the next 3-5 years. For the rest of us, it still has a way to go before it's a practical purchase!
