I would un-latch the hitch and floor it. You would have to get a new bed, but not a new truck, and at least you could drive home.

If the fire was towards the rear of the trailer I would probably try to get the truck unhooked but otherwise I agree in letting the insurance company deal with it.

I don't think I would hang around trying to open the gate and release the hitch. Let the insurance company deal with it.

Must have been driving with the propane on. And probably had EZ Lube axles and the brakes overheated from too much grease on them. And China ST tires that blew out.
