I just added airbags to my truck

So as not to cloud the other thread about taking airbags OFF, I'd like to share my input. I added Firestone 2430's to my 2010 Silverado. Wow, what a difference in the unloaded ride! Seems a LOT smoother to me with 5 PSI in the bags. I can't wait to tow with them to see if there is that much improvement in the ride towing as well.
  • There will be a huge difference while towing. You won't feel the rear of the truck cycle up and down, up and down as much when going over rolling type sections of roads or sections like around bridges where they connect to the regular road and there is a height difference.

I usually measure my rear bumper height with no trailer connected and then fill the airbags to get back to that height once the trailer is connected. Not sure if this is correct but truck and trailer look correct (level) and goes down the road just fine with no bad manors.

When we still had our '06 RAM I added air bags to it and did the same, added air to bring the rear up to where it sat without the RV on. For us, it was a noticeable difference to the ride.

Now we have the '15 RAM with the factory rear air suspension and LOVE it! :B

  • Love mine while towing.... have never noticed any difference with 5psi. Also, no difference while unloaded unless they are aired up in which case it feels like I'm driving on concrete blocks.

The bags really can't help your unloaded ride at all unless you removed some of the stock suspension.
  • Ill will be trying out my new bags on friday. I am looking forward to see how they handle.
