So we are heading out this weekend with some friends. Weather is supposed to be hot and the wife wanted to make sure I had a way to keep the baby cool. camper doesn't have AC and funds didn't allow purchasing one at the moment. took a small old window shaker and retrofitted it to back into a storage tote. in said tote I hooked up a drain line that runs to my gray tank as well as a 5" flex duct that will run to an open window. to help it along I put a booster fan at the start of the duct to make sure I can exhaust the heat of the compressor. it works surprisingly well but is one of the more red neck things I've done. what hillbilly ingenuity have you all come up with? I'm sure there's some good ones out there.

I thought that I had "hillbilly" ties, but I had to Google "window shaker" to learn that it was a window air conditioner. Pictures of your setup would be interesting. Daughter has a popup that it might work in.

not hillbilly.. a NEED and a solution I needed a small paint booth. for house. model cars/airplains.a plastic tote. 2 small bathroom exhaust fans and flexible hose for same. and out the basement window.Wife has Asthma..

I also had to think about the 'window shaker' for a few seconds.We definitely need a picture of your Tote Air Conditioner.You did incorporate Duct Tape into the design, correct? :)

just remember that most of the window ac unit is meant to be outside the "cooled" space which isn't easy with a tt especially on the road

and I definetly would not rely on any cabinetry or walls in a tt to support an ac unit again particularly on the road

It sits on the counter. much easer to drain into the sink than to plumb to outside. tested last night. works but the box got hotter than I would like. not enough draw through the exhaust fan. have a stronger fan ill sub in tonight. should be good.

12,000 BTU is a one ton air conditioner.
This is the equivalent of melting 2000 pounds of ice in 24 hours.

as for the cooler/ice/fan people. any rough idea the cooling power (btu or real world references) of its power in a small tt (mine is 19 ft)

Why did you hook up the drain line to go to the gray tank and just not let it drain on the ground?

There's a lot of small trailers that have a household window unit mounted just like that. These are NEW, current production units.

Common on budget priced, entry model, short TTs.
Using one of those Window A/C units through the wall is a lot cheaper than an RV roof mounted A/C.
