Forum Discussion
- DutchmenSportExplorerWell, I got "it" today. I had a number of photos linked in "My Profile" (link on the left of here), and they all had the 3rd Party message instead of the image. So I deleted those links in my profile and updated. It was a fun ride while it lasted!
- cewillisExplorerA 'free' service is worth every penny, imo.
- HMS_BeagleExplorerPhotobucket would like you to "upgrade", but the upgrade required is usury in my opinion. Not doing it. For the price you can get a full blown commercial website and host whatever you want.
- NRALIFRExplorerI deleted my account with them.
All my trip report pictures, my garage build pictures, truck camper skirt repair, truck mods, etc.
Gone.
It's too much to go back and post all those pictures on another site, and most of the threads are locked anyway.
Not much I can do about it though, I'm not paying their ridiculous fee.
All I can say is "I'm sorry" to those who enjoyed seeing the pictures I posted.
:):) - AnEv942NomadYa that's the unfortunate part- folks who've gone to the effort to document projects etc-gone. Even if photos moved to other host, links can't be practically updated and as NRALIFER noted older threads that are locked, cant update even if you had the wherewithal. TCU thread is crumbling as many of the OPs used photobucket. TC picture thread will also be full of holes.
Only suggestion at this point though would be not to delete P/B accounts- pictures are still there for those who would browse thru albums to find info.
(cant even share a direct link to picture without paying). Out of context as far as forum posts...but
Im kinda blown away by how this was handled.. - RickWExplorer IIIYep, Good ole Photobucket
They deleted all my saved photos and links months ago and put me in a tech support phantom zone until they admitted a "one in a billion update error" (their words).
Alternate recommendations offered here are appreciated. - KCFDCaptExplorerMakes me think of ransomware when I see the price to open the folder.
- CAJWExplorerSame here, every picture I've posted on every forum I frequent.....gone! Very shady of PB to hold hostage our photo (links) which basically trashes every forum that used them. The way they did was very underhanded, no warning, no option to "freeze" your account to keep you existing links and pay a "reasonable" fee (not! $399.99) for future posted photos. They're obviously free to run their business anyway they want, even right into the ground. Good riddance PB!

Sorry that happened -- your garage build thread (especially) was very informative and interesting.
If you still have all your pictures and text organized on your private computer, it wouldn't be too hard to upload the whole works to a new personal website. - BedlamModeratorI have always advised to locally backup your data and photos that are stored on hosted servers. Between business decisions, hackers, ineptness and greed, you may lose access to your collection.
